Help for when work changes
A job loss, a career change, retirement, or a fresh start. Whatever brought you here, you can take it one step at a time.
Why I made this site
Work can change overnight. You may be laid off, worn out, ready to leave a job that was hurting you, or facing retirement with no plan. It can feel like the ground has moved under you.
When I looked online, I found two kinds of help. Some sites were cold job-application pages. Others were selling expensive programs. Neither one helped with the worry and confusion that come first.
So I built LessonReveal. It offers plain guidance, real stories, and simple tools. The order is easy to remember: steady yourself first, take stock second, and then build what comes next.
Who is behind it
I spent more than twenty years in higher education, first as a teacher and later in administration. Over those years I helped many people through hard stretches, including students, coworkers, and friends changing careers.
One thing I learned is that a big problem feels lighter when you break it into small steps. That is how I write everything here, in plain words and one step at a time.
Losing a job does not change who you are. You are more than your last employer, and more than a layoff or a contract that ended.
The three steps
Everything on the site follows these three steps, in this order.
-
Step 01
Reset
The first few days. Look after your money, your daily routine, and your peace of mind.
-
Step 02
Rebuild
Take stock of your skills, explain any gap in your work history, and reconnect with people and openings.
-
Step 03
Reinvent
Try something new, such as freelance work, consulting, or a small business of your own.
What you can count on
Honesty
I will not tell you that everything happens for a reason. Losing work hurts, and it is fine to say so.
No pressure
You will not find countdown clocks, pushy sales pages, or promises of quick money here. Starting over takes time.
Real stories
The stories on this site come from real situations. I change names and details to protect privacy, but I do not leave out the hard parts.
Have a question or a story to share?
I read every message.
You do not have to figure it all out today.
Start with one small step and see where to focus first.
