Rebuild · Step 3 of 3

Your 30-day rebuild plan

Put your preparation into motion at a pace you can manage. Choose a useful outcome, schedule a few purposeful actions, and use what you learn to decide what comes next.

Build your plan

Use what you have already prepared

Bring your preparation into this plan

Keep your return-to-work brief from Step 1 and your professional materials from Step 2 nearby. Refer to those results rather than completing their exercises again.

From Step 1

Use your work direction, practical boundaries, and the question or support need you identified.

From Step 2

Use your résumé or CV draft, short introduction, and any outstanding factual checks.

If something is unfinished, make it a specific action in this plan or return to the relevant page. You do not need to begin the entire pathway again.

Set a manageable scope

Choose what you want to accomplish

Pick one main outcome for this planning period. Base it on actions you can take rather than a response someone else must give.

Your outcome might be to complete a focused skills refresher, hold a small number of useful conversations, submit selected applications, or investigate a route back into a familiar kind of work.

Make it specific enough to review. Choose your own scope; there is no required application or contact target.
Use the availability you identified in Step 1. Record actual time blocks where possible.

This is a working plan. Reduce or rearrange the actions when needed. If you miss a session, choose the next useful action rather than restarting the month.

Give the month a simple structure

Use these weekly themes as a guide

The sequence below is a suggested structure, not a requirement. Move an activity earlier when an actual deadline requires it. Skip actions that do not serve your chosen outcome.

Week 1 · Days 1–7

Set up and clear one obstacle

Make your plan usable and address a practical matter that could block your next action.

  • Put your chosen work sessions in a calendar or another place you use.
  • Schedule a specific unresolved task from your Step 1 brief or Step 2 factual checks.
  • Choose a small set of places or people through which you will investigate relevant opportunities.
  • Enter your first actions in the tracker below.
Week 2 · Days 8–14

Refresh one priority and make contact

Work on a need you already identified and take a purposeful step outside your own preparation.

  • If a skills refresher is part of your outcome, complete a defined practice or learning task.
  • Contact a relevant person with a clear purpose, using your prepared introduction if helpful.
  • Ask a specific question, such as where to verify a role requirement or how a familiar type of work is currently organised.
  • Record what you learned and any follow-up you agreed to make.
Week 3 · Days 15–21

Act on suitable opportunities

Use your existing brief to assess fit and your prepared materials to respond where appropriate.

  • Compare opportunities with the essential conditions recorded in Step 1.
  • Adapt your existing résumé or CV to a relevant opportunity without adding unsupported claims.
  • Submit selected applications or enquiries if they support your outcome.
  • If a conversation or interview is arranged, set aside time to practise discussing your relevant experience.
Week 4 · Days 22–28

Follow through and close the loop

Finish useful work already started before adding more activities.

  • Complete follow-ups that were requested or agreed, using any stated timelines.
  • Update the status of applications, enquiries, practice tasks, or other planned actions.
  • Record obstacles or new information that should affect your next plan.
  • Carry unfinished actions forward deliberately, change them, or remove them if they no longer help.

Days 29–30 are for review. Use the review section below to assess the month and choose your next short planning cycle.

Make the plan concrete

Write and track your selected actions

Use the entries below for actions that serve your main outcome. You do not need to fill every entry. Keep additional records in your own document if needed.

Name the action clearly, give it a planned date, and update the same entry after taking it. Keep private contact details and sensitive information out of your notes.

Action 1

Action 2

Action 3

Action 4

Record actions and responses separately. An application can be completed while a decision is still pending. A lack of response does not tell you why someone has not replied.

Days 29–30 · Review the evidence

What did this month show you?

Compare your main outcome with your action record. Review what you completed, what remains unresolved, and what new information should change your approach.

Choose the next short cycle

Continue with a deliberate adjustment

Use your review to decide what deserves more time. You can continue a useful action, change the scale, or pause something that no longer serves your outcome.
